1. Do I need a student visa?
For short courses, you may enter Brazil with a tourist visa. For longer stays (more than 180 days), you will need a special visa to enter Brazil in a student status. Please, check this information with the Brazilian embassy in your country. In this case (for courses longer than six months or of a minimum of 90 hours), The Language Club may provide Proof of Enrolment for visa request.
2. How do I get to The Language Club Portuguese School?
From Hercílio Luz International Airport
By bus:
The Hercílio Luz International Airport is located 13 km from downtown Florianópolis. To get to The Language Club from the airport, in Lagoa da Conceição, you should take the bus Corredor Sudoeste to the TICEN terminal, and from there change to the Lagoa da Conceição bus. You get off at the Terminal da Lagoa (TILAG), and walk five minutes up Avenida Afonso Delambert Neto, 817.
By taxi:
The taxi ride from the Hercílio Luz International Airport to The Language Club costs approximately R$ 60,00 (sixty Reais).
From Terminal Rodoviário Rita Maria (bus station)
By bus:
If you arrive by bus in Florianópolis, you get off at the Terminal Rodoviário Rita Maria, downtown Florianópolis, and walk to TICEN terminal. There you take the Lagoa da Conceição bus and get off at the Terminal da Lagoa (TILAG). Walk five minutes up Avenida Afonso Delambert Neto, 817.

3. Do provide airport transfer?
Transfer can be arranged upon request. We can book a taxi for you, or in case you prefer someone to welcome you upon arrival, “meet and greet” can be arranged. Check price per person here (airport-accommodation in Lagoa da Conceição).

4. Where do I change money?
The Brazilian currency is the real (R$). Check here the Dollar-Real exchange rate. It can be exchanged at “casas de câmbio”. You can also withdraw local currency from ATMs at the airport and several other locations, such as Banco do Brasil agencies. Credit cards are widely accepted.
